The rate at which mammalian cells entry and progress through the different stages of their cell cycle is subject to strict regulatory mechanisms to avoid abnormal cell growth and division that may pose a threat to structure and function at the tissue level [1]. Intensive efforts have been done to accurately monitor cell cycle progression in order to better understand and predict tumor development [2]. By identifying changes in proliferation rates in response to treatment important contributes can be made to the development of anti-cancer therapeutic agents targeting specific steps of the cell cycle and the tailoring of treatment strategies for oncologic patients.
